Young Researcher Award at SPP11 conference

Surface Plasmon Photonics (SPP) is an international conference widely regarded as one of the leading events in the field of plasmonics. It is held every two years in different locations around the world; this year the conference took place in Tokyo, Japan. The conference covers a broad range of topics in plasmonics, from studies of metamaterials and metasurfaces to biological and biomedical applications. More than 200 researchers from around the world participated in the conference, presenting their latest results in the field, while internationally recognized scientists delivered invited talks.

Arina Safonova presented a poster describing the results of her laboratory’s research on light interaction with zero-mode waveguides, including the development of efficient excitation and detection schemes for single fluorescent molecules during measurements involving large arrays of nanostructures. Her work also explores the application of these excitation schemes in optical single-molecule DNA sequencing. During the conference, she had the opportunity to interact with colleagues from various countries and laboratories, discuss her research results, and receive valuable feedback that will help guide her future experiments.

At the end of the conference, an awards ceremony was held. Three award categories were presented. Arina received the award for Young Researcher Award.

Winning the Young Researcher Award was a great honor and a complete surprise for me,” Arina said. “This recognition not only highlights the international significance of my research but also provides strong motivation for my further work in science.

Congratulations to Arina Safonova on Receiving an Young Researcher Award at SPP conference!
